This beautiful family came to St. Augustine Beach all the way from North Carolina to visit! It was a pleasure working with them, and it was an honor to be able to document Mama and her babies. I am always thrilled when families opt for the beach. This particular evening, we had a beautiful sunset, and the shores had this ethereal vibe to them with the waves on the shoreline. It definitely gave their session a dreamy quality. And how amazing is little sis' hair?! I loved how Mama dressed her in a lilac colored dress. The cool toned color of the dress coordinated perfectly with the gorgeous warm tones in her hair.

One of my favorite things about shooting at the beach is the backlight you will get, especially showing up in the clothing. Anything with texture will always help amp up that backlight.

When I photograph a family on the beach, I always like to incorporate a few landscape images for them to keep in addition to their family portraits. Here in Saint Augustine Beach, we have plenty of those beautiful pastel-hued skies so including a few images in every gallery is a must!

These images are literally the first few I shot! That rarely happens! You pull out your camera and the littles are ready! This is actually really important to learn from. You never know when/if a meltdown is going to happen, so it's always best to be ready at any moment to capture a quick sequence because, in a second, those kiddos could be gone!

I loved the ethereal quality these beach portraits had that evening. Sometimes at this particular beach in St. Augustine, there is this cool foam-like substance that collects on the shoreline. I find that when this happens, the air is also a bit hazy, so you can amp that up in post-production to create images that are like childhood memories. To me, a memory is warm-hued and almost out of focus in your mind, so I tried to play up at least the warmth aspect of it in this set. It gives me total childhood nostalgic vibes.
