Your total investment includes the session itself, Rya’s time and talent during your session, a phone consultation prior to your session, an electronic client welcome guide, archiving and professional image and video preparation post-session (if applicable), and access to a private online image preview gallery. Once the final balance due from your all-inclusive session fee is paid, you will receive all of the retouched, high resolution digital image files from your session via download. Rya presents all images that turn out - typically 40 to 60 images, depending on your session selection.
One of the benefits of using a custom portrait photographer is that you will have access to the studio closet. You will also receive a personalized interactive style guide via email, containing clothing links for current items and styles available for purchase from major retailers. This takes the guesswork out of your wardrobe questions and makes it super simple to style your family!
If you choose to style your session on your own, Rya encourages clients to coordinate (not match), and to avoid loud patterns and colors. You don’t want anything to distract from your beautiful images! Timeless, neutral, organic clothing is always preferred.
Absolutely! All sessions come with a print release, allowing you to print and share your images to your heart’s content. Rya will provide a recommendation for her favorite consumer print lab. She also highly recommends printing through the professional print labs available directly from your proofing gallery. Printing through a pro lab ensures that your images are printed with the correct color profiles, as well as on heirloom quality, archival paper. Professional prints will stand the test of time and can be passed on to your children..
Yes. The best images from your session will be presented, hand retouched by Rya.
Of course! In fact, it’s encouraged! Someday, when these images belong to your children and the moments captured have long since passed, it will be important that the people you love most were present.
For newborns, usually the first week to 10 days of life is recommended for a more posed, studio portrait session. If you will be happy with a more relaxed, baby-led, session at home, your baby may be up to one month old. If your baby will be circumcised, Rya recommends that your session be completed no less than 5 days after the procedure.
For sitter sessions, babies must be able to sit unassisted, which is typically around months 6-7. You’ll want baby to be able to sit up comfortably on their own, but not yet crawling.
Posed newborn sessions take place in Rya’s home studio, and lifestyle newborn sessions take place in client homes.
A reasonable turnaround expectation for retouched proofs is 2 weeks, depending on Rya’s workload. Fall is a bit busier than the rest of the year, due to holiday portraits, so expect a slightly longer turnaround during this season. If you are securing a special petite or event session, a faster turnaround may be accommodated.
Maternity sessions are ideally completed between 31 and 34 weeks of pregnancy. If you are carrying multiples, the 6 to 7 month mark is best. You want to have a beautiful, fully developed bump, and don’t want to run the risk of delivering your new addition during the session.
Yes. Rya’s services are all-inclusive, which means you don’t have to choose! Once the final balance is paid, all sessions include all of the retouched, high resolution digital files. Digital files and family films are delivered electronically. You will receive a consumer print lab recommendation, as well as the ability to purchase directly from professional print labs via your gallery. A custom portrait experience makes the ordering process enjoyable and streamlined.

Nothing! Holding traditional, posed newborn sessions in Rya’s home studio lifts any potential burdens away from the client. Everything, including outfits for mom, is included with your studio newborn session. It is recommended that you bring a bottle to top off during your session, as well as a pacifier for soothing (only if necessary). These little things can help make a session flow more smoothly, but most of the work is taken out of your hands. This is why you’re investing in custom service!
Lifestyle newborn sessions are a bit more relaxed, and Rya will contact you prior to your session to set expectations.
Studio newborn sessions last approximately two hours, to account for a short feeding if necessary. Lifestyle newborn sessions can take up to three hours, depending on if a family film is commissioned. Rya will never lengthen a session simply for the sake of doing so; she wants to get you in and out
Absolutely. At this time, Rya offers only relaxed, lifestyle newborn sessions at home. For a variety of reasons, posed, traditional newborn portraiture is done in Rya’s home studio in Jacksonville.
No. Rya will provide any and all timeless, organic props. You’ll notice that the term “props” is used loosely, as you will see through Rya’s portfolio that the baby is always, without distraction, the focus of the image. Bright colors and loud patterns are not included. Rya’s goal is to create timeless portraiture that will look the same in 20 years as it does today.
