Spent this morning with the most wonderful family! New to the St. Augustine area, these Boston transplants loved spending time together at sunrise on the coast. Sunrise will forever remain my favorite time to photograph families. Aside from the fact that no one will be on the beach, besides the occasional lone fisherman off in the distance, it's the perfect calm time for lighter winds, lower humidity and pristine sand that hasn't been disrupted by the foot traffic of the day just yet. It truly is a magical time to be on the beach. Plus, once you're done with your photo session, you've still go the whole day ahead of you - with everyone already dressed and ready to go! 

One of my favorite things about this particular family photo session was the fact that they included their four-legged family members too. The beach is the perfect place to let your pups run free and enjoy the sand and surf, so I always welcome including all family to participate in your family photo session.

And how adorable is this little boy?! Simple, neutral clothing on the coast is always a timeless choice that will still look fresh many years down the road. Keeping it polished casual as I like to call it will always be a great choice for the beach. Mom's rust-colored dress adds a great pop of color and visual interest to the clothing color palette, and makes for a great compliment to a sunrise photo session since the light at sunrise tends to lean more towards golden tones.
