A light and airy pastel sunset family photo session on the beach in Saint Augustine was just the ticket to get me out of my post-Ian-hurricane-haze. What a whirlwind the past week has been. From flooded streets to damaged roofs, to kayakers in the street! I was soooo ready to be back at it, and was so pleased to see that our pristine beaches were for the most part back to normal! It's truly heartbreaking to see a place you hold so dear get ravaged by a storm, but somehow the sea always manages to correct itself back to it's former glory. After the trauma of Ian, we had a nor'easter pushing what looked almost like brackish water into our usually beautiful pastel-colored sea so it was nice to see that had also gotten back to normal.

For this beautiful family sunset session on the coast, Mom opted for an amazingly-flattering gold maxi dress from Baltic Born AND, she actually discovered after the fact that they make mini dresses in many of their popular dress styles! A plus when you're looking to update those Mommy + Me portraits. We added a few of these images to their session at the end when the sun had mostly dipped beyond the tree line, opposite the horizon. During a family beach photo session, when that starts happening, the light gets all sparkly and soft and it's pure magic. The air gets cooler and you can almost feel the seasons click. It's officially fall (and incidentally hurricane season) in this crazy and beautiful state we call home.
